About me

I graduated from the University of Derby in 1998 with a degree in graphic design and after an underpaid summer job at a printer’s, I moved to Leeds with some friends. Since then I have worked in a convenience store, an advertising agency and a call centre. I’ve been a data entry clerk for the last three years.

I was partially inspired by a TV programme I saw about Outsider Art which featured people with no formal art training, painting and sculpting what they wanted with little or no thought to what people would think of their work. I’ve always liked making things and it really struck a chord. I didn’t have much money at the time, so I made my first canvas using wood from an old futon frame stretched with a bed sheet from a charity shop. I bought a set of brushes for 99p and a selection of tester pots.
