Just based on a doodle really. With this, I took the unprecidented step of making a model out of plasticine first. When you are carving, it is very important to work in a logical manner, to make sure that you always have a sturdy grip. It’s very annoying to cut off a piece to find that without it the work won’t fit safely in the vice. Then you’re stuck with either padding it out with off-cuts or else risking injury to yourself or the carving by using a wonky grip.
