Gathering Wood

A robot and a group of dogs have been shipwrecked on an alien planet, the only survivors of the crash.

The robot spends his time observing and documenting the fauna and flora, developing his carpentry skills, caring for the hounds and tending the graves of the crew that were killed. The dogs breed and their successive generations accompany him through the centuries.

This one was partly inspired by a science fiction book I read as a teenager.
