I painted this whilst working in a call centre— I was there for 4 years. I said, “Hello Orderline, this is Andrew speaking, may I have your reference number please?” over 80,000 times. EIGHTY THOUSAND TIMES.

It was part-time work and the hours suited my artistic needs. But it was a rubbish soul-destroying job and fortunately they were going to sack me for repeatedly (i.e. never) hitting my sales targets. That gave me the necessary push to get something better.
